A message from our President:

Wood is not a renewable energy source - it is as bad as burning coal. We should be investing in genuine renewable energy sources like solar, wind and pump hydro instead of destroying one of our life support systems – our native forests.  That’s why CCA is very active in taking the message to locals about the proposed changes to NSW logging laws – which, if approved, will have disastrous impacts on climate change.  So we've held rallies, we've had an information evening, we've had stalls at local markets.  And we haven't finished yet. Please consider making a submission (see below) or emailing our Premier about this issue.  And come along to our rally this Friday 22nd.

A message from our President:

The release of the 2018 Federal budget this month was astounding, because climate change did not even rate a mention.  Yet it’s clear that we need to accelerate climate actionBecause despite the government’s denial, the reality of climate change is starting to bite. More extreme weather conditions are real, and they are happening across the globe. Action is needed to prevent the situation becoming much worse.

That’s why CCA is engaged in three campaigns this year, as we head towards the NSW State election in March 2019, and the Federal election due to be held sometime before November 2019. We’ll be ramping up our public actions and events.  Are you interested in getting involved in the planning of these events?  If so, please contact the relevant lead organiser/s to offer your time and skills:

A message from our President:

Polls clearly show that Australians do not want to waste public money on an overseas billionaire’s polluting project that will destroy the Reef and tens of thousands of tourism jobs.  People power forced the Queensland government to veto a $1B loan to Adani, but the Turnbull government should never have considered using NAIF to fund Adani’s polluting coal mine in the first place. Now the government should rule out using the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (EFIC) as a backdoor way of propping up Adani.  Using EFIC represents another desperate attempt by the Federal government to support Adani’s polluting mine. It would add to the enormous level of public money that Adani have already been promised by all levels of government, including free and unlimited groundwater, huge royalty concessions and the construction of an airport to service the mine.

Mining and burning coal will worsen the impacts of climate change, creating more heatwaves, bushfires and droughts, and destroy the Great Barrier Reef. Australians want investment in clean energy and a brighter future. That’s why we need to #StopAdani!
